Each scent line is created from natural, wild crafted and organic plant and flower essences. The fragrances are exquisitely ethically sourced. Designed to support your inner travels, each scent line has a collection of corresponding guided meditations.
The guided meditation lines are beautifully mapped to create a landscape for you to potentially access your inner brilliance and truth. The opportunity to re-design your neural architecture is hosted in these inner adventures through imagined landscapes that are co-created with your own powerful imagination and intelligence.
T h e S c e n t s
When you inhale a scent, the aroma signals an area of the brain called the olfactory bulb. Shaped like a not-yet-blossomed flower bud, this area then speaks to two powerful centres: the amygdala and the hippocampus. You have two of each, on the left and the right. The hippocampi, shaped like two tiny seahorses, decide which experiences to encode for longer term memory, whether that is a vision of your future, or a meditation in your present. Constantly growing new forests of delicate neurons with fern-like tendrils, your hippocampi unfurl maps to the stories and adventures of your life. By combining scent and meditation, you potentially increase your ability to encode and thus remember and thus use your meditation experiences for creating more beauty, clarity and intelligence in your life.
Housed in glass containers, each scent product is natural, organic, vegan, cruelty-free, and sustainably sourced. There are no parabens, phenoxyethanol, sulfates, phthalates, BHT, or artificial colourants, and no nitro, poly, alicyclic or synthetic musks in the scents.
Created in Tofino, BC, Canada, Tla-0-qui-aht Territory, each scent line contains wild crafted plant essences sourced from wilderness bathed in ocean winds and cedar laden air. Deep respect for the land, its history, and the plants and their properties, is a part of the process of creating these distilled essences for you to nourish, restore, and rebalance. Honouring the sacred within the physical, and the physical within the sacred, is in the intention behind each creation.
T h e S o u n d s
When you hear the music of the crystal bowl sounds, resonant vocals, and other instruments, your brain becomes active in a multitude of areas. At the same time, the vibrations resonate with the fascial layer of the body. The fascia is like a silk white stocking that holds the form of the body in place. Specific sounds may allow the fascial layer to release stored tension. Sound also partially distracts the language areas of the mind, potentially allowing you to sink more deeply into an intuitive daydream state.
T h e M e d i t a t i o n s
When you embark on inner travel while listening to an ILLUMINE ® guided meditation, you might shift your state of consciousness. You may shift from the busy thinking of beta brain waves to the alpha brain waves which can recharge, rest, and restore the nervous system. Maia Love: Designer and Founder of ILLUMINE ®
Born on the wild west coast of Canada, as a second generation Canadian Latvian and fourth generation Canadian Scot, Maia was raised across Canada and experienced many different cultures around the world. With meaningful connections with people from diverse backgrounds and walks of life, she has learned from many traditions to bring her unique knowledge to the ILLUME ® business. With sixteen years of university training, she has studied art, biology, the body, the mind, and medicine. Her gift to the world in scent-based and non-medical meditation techniques, is to welcome an artistry of your life and a creativity of your soul through the playful and whimsical notes of ILLUMINE ® designs.

ANGELA-MARIE L’HEUREUX
After being a paramedic, Angela returned to her roots in ethnobotany and traditional knowledge. This led to the creation of the Tofino Soap Company, in which she wild crafts essential oils ethically harvested from the West Coast, in a way that reflects her values of creativity, love and community.
Faye Mallett
Faye is a multi-instrumentalist who writes and performs music with the vibraphone, orchestral instruments, drum set and voice. Hauntingly peaceful, her music summons emotional touchstones in a shifting soundscape brought alive by rhythmic melodic textures. She creates sounds with Alchemy crystal bowls for sounds baths and deep relaxation.
Zenija Esmits
Zenija Esmits is an artist/designer living in on Vancouver Island, BC. She has been described as one of the hardest working, most conscientious, aesthetically talented and creative people in her profession.
JORDIE HENNIGAR
Jordie Hennigar is a creative photographer based in Tofino, BC, Canada, with an eye for portraiture. Her contributions as a photographer with model Laurain Jayne have elevated the mystical and magical expression of Illumine ®.
OLIVIA VAN DYKE
Olivia van Dyke is a freelance photographer based in Tofino and Vancouver, BC, Canada. Photography is her love language, the camera, a tool to create and connect. Moved by humanity and the ideas of behaviour and emotion, she creates powerful and gentle images.
